Concert featuring Arvo Pärt
Intended as a wedding gift for his wife, for whom he wrote the soprano solos, Mozart’s Mass in C minor was not composed as part of an official commission, but as a private vow to Constanze.
Today, alongside the equally unfinished Requiem, it is regarded as Mozart’s most significant sacred work, combining Baroque splendour with the emotional depth of the Viennese Classical period.
This will be followed by Arvo Pärt’s ‘Te Deum’.
