The follow-up to "Wide Awake" was produced by Rodaidh MacDonald (The xx, Hot Chip, David Byrne) and John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding, Dry Cleaning). The new album was created primarily through impromptu jam sessions.

"Wide Awake" was a record you could put on at a party, says Austin Brown of Parquet Courts. In contrast, the new work is influenced by the party itself - and by Pink Floyd, Primal Scream and the New York club scene.
