Night café, reading zone, reading stage, literature and now slogan Text:Book - these were and are names for the format in the Red Salon of the Volksbühne on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, which has focused on the written word for 30 years.
Texts and books that celebrate a premiere, texts that gain through a special interpretation or that are saved from oblivion by publishers.
All directions and genres are represented: fiction, short stories, novellas, political books, unusual non-fiction, drama, poetry, essays, biographies - no mainstream and, as a focus: the debut. Each book presented impresses with its own uniqueness and it is not uncommon for the audience to experience a lot more in addition to the reading and the conversation: music - live or from a can - films, dance and whatever else the imagination can come up with.
And the bar in the Red Salon is the icing on the cake. Because of course only with a drink at your seat does an evening of reading become socially acceptable from A to Z.
