The first organ concert of the 2025 concert series in the Sophienkirche is all about Lent and will be organized by Steffen Walther. The program includes works related to Lent from various musical cycles by Olivier Messiaen. The framework is formed by two major organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach, which both open and close the evening.
Steffen Walther is a lecturer in artistic and liturgical organ playing in Dresden and Leipzig and works as a cantor at the Kreuzkirche in Chemnitz. His deep musical understanding and expressiveness promise an impressive sound experience.
