Maximilian Schnaus (Berlin) plays the cycle "La Nativité du Seigneur" by Olivier Messiaen, which he created in 1935 at the age of only 27.
Every year at Christmas, Maximilian Schnaus interprets this classic of modern organ music in the Sophienkirche - this time in combination with a corresponding video installation. Therefore, there is no video transmission of the organ console at this concert.

In 1935, at the age of only 27, Olivier Messiaen created his cycle "La Nativité du Seigneur". Many of Messiaen's contemporaries met his extremely progressive tonal language by the standards of the time, which was characterized by the use of modal harmonies, exotic rhythms and bird songs, as well as his preference for religious themes, with incomprehension.
"La Nativité" was, however, already enthusiastically received by the audience at its premiere in Paris.
