This Ukrainian poetry strikes to the core and makes us physically feel what we have heard. Many Ukrainian poets today are not only active in literature, but are also involved in relief operations on the front line, risking their lives and some never returning.

Among them is the young poet Victoria Amelina, whose impressive poems we present. The works of Peace Prize winner Serhij Zhadan, which have been written since 2014, are particularly significant.

He initially fell silent after the complete invasion, but new poems were published in German in November 2024 under the title ‘Chronik des eigenen Atems’. Many other Ukrainian poets also show the great power of their poetry.

Jan Uplegger will be reading. The versatile actor received his training in Vienna at the Max Reinhardt Seminar and in Paris.

Danil Zverkhanovskyi accompanies him on the guitar. He was born in Kiev and lives as a composer and musician in Berlin.
