A sombre atmosphere, suspense and the mesmerising beauty of classical music: Nosferatu. A Symphony of Horror (1922, F.W. Murnau) transports the audience into the world of expressionist horror and intense emotions.
The music of Johannes Brahms – a contemporary of Bram Stoker (Dracula) – performed live by the Golden Star String Quartet, expanded to a sextet with piano accompaniment and conducted by Katarzyna Marek, impressively reflects the mysterious, suspenseful and melancholic atmosphere of this silent film classic.
Through the interplay of light and shadow, the film explores fear, loneliness and the supposedly invisible – yet ever-present.
This evening, chamber music, Expressionism and cinema merge to create a special experience, not just for lovers of classical music and silent film.
