NoonSong - Song & Prayer

Unknown
composers of German Romanticism.

Hardly anyone today remembers the prolific and influential composer Carl Stein, who shaped Wittenberg's musical life a good century ago. Two of his beautiful motets can be heard regularly in NoonSong. Similarly, hardly anyone knows the sacred music of the Tübingen composer Friedrich Silcher, who is more famous for his folk songs.

  • Preces: William Smith (1603-1645): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 103 Carl Stein (1824-1902): Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 113 anonym (-): Laudate pueri Dominum
  • Canticum: Friedrich Silcher (1789-1860): Te Deum
  • Choral: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): Lobe den Herren Vers 1 (EG 316)

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
