Moving Choral Music from England and France
Anglican choral music is featured in this NoonSong. The great Edward Elgar, with his psalm settings, placed himself squarely within the tradition stretching from Tallis to Stanford. The French composer Charles Gounod also composed for English cathedrals. Colin Mawby’s music draws entirely on his decades of experience as choir director at Westminster Cathedral in London and with the choirs of the Irish Broadcasting Corporation.

NoonSong – what is it?
Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music fans, and architecture enthusiasts gather for NoonSong. It is both a concert and a church service, developed from the Anglican Evensong. Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin perform choral music under the direction of Stefan Schuck. The repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary compositions.
