Apocalypse Calypso Tour
In 2007, a young man named Mika took Europe by storm when he released his debut single "Grace Kelly." At first, one might have thought his strange mix of sophisticated, sometimes complex pop music, sharp humor, spectacular circus-like productions and a flair for calculated breaks was almost a happy accident.
MIKA
But he countered this initial skepticism in the best way - with further impressive successes. Five singles from his first two albums alone, "Life in Cartoon Motion" and "The Boy Who Knew Too Much", made it into the top 10 of the charts in his adopted home of England, among others. The albums themselves reached the top ten across Europe, including Germany, and laid the foundation for over 15 million albums sold to date.
These achievements are not surprising because Michael Holbrook Penniman, better known as Mika, is a passionate explorer in different worlds. Music was always his refuge, a kind of meditation and medicine - initially in the serious fields of classical music and opera, but above all as an independent, enigmatic and clever pop artist who moves between art and thrilling performances.
