A dance performance by Jair Luna

My body is my tool to cross social boundaries. And he is the memory of borders and border crossings. Every society produces its own demarcations and thus its special bodies. In Memory of Dislocation, Jair Luna recalls the transformations of his body.

He goes through spaces of social segregation in Colombia, spaces of heteronormativity, precarity, dance discipline, queerness and Berlin club culture. His body was and is the medium in which the social boundary constructions of these spaces are expressed; it is the material whose transformation allows it access, ways out and border crossings. If social boundaries shape, shape and code your body, how does it have to change itself and its body to overcome those limitations that constrain, define and determine it? The experience of the possibility of transformation of one's own body changes its perspective on the social border regime - it can break through, overcome, change or move it. Work on one's own body thus becomes a practice of resistance that can challenge the prevailing social order.

In Memory of dislocation the boundaries of social spaces for Jair Luna become an athletic challenge, stands at the end of the utopian question whether his body can be the space in which to resolve all these boundaries.
