Fernando Cabral

A performance of intimacy. Starting from the body as raw material to reclaim one's own intimate gestures and one's own history; an attempt to release movements, figures and spectrums that move through and inhabit people.

MATTER is a return to the body and its layers, to breathing and voice, in order to create the necessary conditions for the emergence of a gesture that is at once sensual, political and spiritual and questions violence that has been inflicted primarily on historically marginalized people.

Through a mix of sensory immersion and the exploration of new personal healing rituals, Fernando Cabral explores the memory of the body and its family to capture its questions and desires. A choreographic self-portrait in homage to his Brazilian grandmother; an intimate and political attempt to inscribe his body into a new postcolonial narrative.
