Material bar

Rineke Dijkstra is known for her portrait photographs. In them, she deals with identity and focuses on the phases of life in which it is formed. She goes on a search with her camera. She travels to places where she meets people she finds interesting. She photographs groups and individuals on beaches, in parks and clubs.

In the Material Bar, the focus is on the question of where the participants would like to be photographed. To pursue this question, they can draw or write a desired background on transparencies and project it onto the wall. Photographs are playfully taken with the participants' own cell phones. They can take group pictures, individual portraits or even shadow shots. Everyone can have their picture taken or take selfies, just as they feel most comfortable.
