A choreography for styrofoam and an artist.

In this incomparable piece, Andrea Salustri explores the possibilities of styrofoam. As an almost invisible actor, he lets the material play the central role in the performance, letting it show its own artistry and create magic before our eyes.

"Materia" is an engaging and extraordinary experience that deliberately dispenses with a fixed metaphor or narrative structure and instead encourages to use our own imagination and imagination to interpret the images presented. An unforgettable experience for everyone.

"Objects develop a magical life of their own. You can't resist the thrill of the never-before-seen."
Silvia Buss, Saarbrücker Zeitung

"Materia" is presented as part of The Sphere:

Since January 2020, the Berlin Circus Festival has been one of the main partners of the EU project The Sphere. It is an experimental project to develop alternative funding opportunities with the idea of sharing the risks and opportunities of creating art.

Andrea Salustri hails from Rome, where he learned juggling and fire manipulation and worked as a street performer. After studying philosophy at La Sapienza University in Rome, he decided to move to Berlin to pursue an education in contemporary dance. First he attended the intensive program at Tanzfabrik Berlin and then completed his studies in dance and choreography at the HZT Hochschule in Berlin. Andrea is an award-winning artist for circusnext 2018-2019.
