The Italian-born Berliner Ferruccio Busoni was one of the most extraordinary personalities of the early 20th century. Not only a celebrated pianist, teacher and thinker, but also an extremely original composer who combined musical tradition with the radical developments of his time.

Busoni was particularly fascinated by the polyphonic music of Johann Sebastian Bach, which he used as a model for his own compositions. Berlin-based Busoni specialist Victor Nicoara will preview his upcoming recording program, which features contrapuntal works by Busoni, including a new version of the monumental "Fantasia Contrappuntistica."
