The first single, “Ein Leben lang ist nicht lang”, was released on 26 June. “Nashville” is the result of a close bond between two artists that has grown over the years.
Maffay and Oerding have been friends for many years. Their first encounters took place whilst working on Peter Maffay’s MTV Unplugged project, and later the pair met time and again both on and off stage.
Among their best-known collaborations is the duet “Wenn wir uns wiedersehen”; Oerding also accompanied Maffay on his grand farewell tour in 2024 and reinterpreted the classic “Eiszeit” for his final album. What began as a casual encounter between two musicians who had known and respected each other for a long time gradually developed into something greater.
At some point in their conversation, Maffay and Oerding realised that, despite their different musical worlds, they share the same core – rock ’n’ roll, rhythm and blues, country rock and a love of handcrafted, narrative-driven music. ‘Nashville’ was recorded live last year at the renowned Blackbird Studio in Nashville – a city that has always breathed Americana, country and classic songwriting.
