It is loneliness that permeates all ranks of our society without exception. The proliferation of wordlessness seems to be just as unstoppable as AI-driven reproduction in the digital jungle.
We are not practised in dealing with the oppressive, menacingly approaching voids that have entered the reality of our lives. Suffering from loneliness is shameful; hardly anyone wants to have it or even admit that it has afflicted them. That friendlessness has afflicted them; and that their friends no longer do.
The exhibition is thus concerned with emptiness in terms of content and space, with boredom as its temporal equivalent.
Standing in front of each other, connecting with each other is understood as a starting point, distances are to be exchanged for free spaces, the sheer and sharp view of their existence is required, an appeal to their significance at the same time.
The artists exhibiting here are united by the question of whether it is emptiness itself that leads us to loneliness. Or is it rather the tireless attempt to banish it, which as a consequence makes us unhappy and often leads to loneliness?
Everyone involved in the group show is concerned with emptiness and its various dimensions. They are united by an understanding of the meaning and power of this very state; something that is not filled - times, minds or spaces - irritates them, it is not something to be endured, but often a provocation and a prescribed perseverance. But can we rely on the goodness of emptiness?
The exhibition itself, i.e. the loose display of large open spaces, follows the desire to see intermediate spaces as free spaces and to occupy them with oneself and others. There is room for the temporary, the echo of what people say, for sounds and what is heard voluntarily.
