Fairy tales - really grim!
A mermaid leaves her home, exchanges her fish tail for two "clumsy supports that people call legs", pays with her voice and thereby loses the opportunity to reveal her identity and reveal herself. And yet she does it.
The "clumsy supports" cause her hellish torments with every step, and yet she dances. Without hesitation. She does not ask what she will get in return. She does not need the certainty that the prince will return her love and that she will gain an immortal soul.
How much courage does it take to love deeply and unconditionally? How much risk is your own love worth? How much are people willing to accept and leave behind? What are people willing to give up? And is it really giving up or is it an enrichment? Does love only become valuable when it is reciprocated? Does love have to be worth anything at all?
Two sisters tell their story, about the courage to love and moving to a foreign land; the loss of a loved one and the acquisition of an immortal soul. We emerge from the depths with them and look through their eyes at people. People who can cry. People who share their souls when they love. And who all too often do not recognize love when it is in front of them.
Rapunzel
“Rapunzel, let down your hair for me...”, words of a fairy tale that are at least as well-known as its authors, who have recorded them in writing for posterity.
Everyone knows this fairy tale:
A story of the fulfillment of the most fervent wishes and the first great and everlasting love. But when people allow this fairy tale to become reality, it begins to take hold of them and suddenly the characters become part of them.
Suddenly it is the fairy tale that observes the viewer and questions them. Everything is turned upside down and abysses open up that can only be expressed in an opulent baroque opera.
Admission from 14 years.
