Handel's Messiah is one of the most popular examples of sacred music in our cultural area. It tells the story of Jesus' life from birth to death and resurrection. Even at its premiere in Dublin in 1742, the work created an enthusiasm that continues to this day.

As part of the Lehnin Winter Music Festival, up-and-coming specialists from the early music scene will ensure a special end to the year in the Lehnin Monastery Church and present a lively version of the oratorio, shortened to around 70 minutes, on New Year's Eve afternoon. The youth orchestra "Jeune Esprit", which made its debut at the Lehnin Summer Music Festival 2023 in the cloister, will perform the orchestral part. At the end of the concert, the audience is cordially invited to sing the "Hallelujah" from Messiah together with the choir and orchestra in the monastery church.
