As part of the Lehnin Summer Music, the chamber choir of the Werder parish presents a cappella singing with joy and passion under the direction of Bernhard Barth. The Passions by Schütz, Demantius and Boethius deal with human suffering and death and at the same time show that music can be healing and beautiful.
With the St. John Passion by Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672) and the Prophecy by Christoph Demantius (1567-1643), the choir of the Heilig-Geist-Kirchegemeinde Werder performs two rather unknown works from the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods in the Lehnin monastery church .
This is contrasted with a composition by Bernhard Barth (2006/2022), the cantor of the Protestant parish of Werder: The Boethius Passion with texts by the late antique philosopher Boethius and the well-known theologian and resistance fighter Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
