Night Concert II with Gerhard Oppelt
On the way to Leipzig, J. S. Bach created many of his famous organ works at various locations. A selection of them will be performed that night in the Lehnin monastery church.
When Johann Sebastia Bach started his musical career in Thuringia, no one suspected that he would one day become the great Thomaskantor in Leipzig. Ohrdruf, Arnstadt, Mühlhausen, Weimar and finally Köthen - these are the most important places of employment and life of Johann Sebastian Bach before his position as Thomaskantor. Everywhere he composed secular works as well as for church use. His early cantatas later became his musical calling cards for the office.
