A contemporary dance piece for three performers, inspired by William Shakespeare’s tragedy “King Lear.” It depicts Lear struggling against his own shadow, which refuses to let him go and embodies all his hybrid hubris as well as his misjudgment of his surroundings.

LEAR SHADOW PLAY
The dancers are both real people and each other’s shadows; they are both the pursued and the pursuers. This inner struggle is translated into a powerful, dynamic dance language—Lear, who does not know who he is, dances aimlessly, screams at the elements, and battles his alter ego. It is about the precarious balancing act on the brink of the abyss, the dizzying frenzy of the lust for power, and the constant fear of falling.
