Writings about hope, humanity and the little moments that sustain us

Leah Weigand is a poet, author and spoken-word artist. Since 2017, she has been performing her work on stages throughout the German-speaking world.

Her poetry ranges from melancholy to a zest for life, from thoughtful imagery and rhymes to a clear-eyed view of the people and issues of our time.

Her piece *Ungepflegt* touched the hearts of millions: in it, she explores both the beauty and the shortcomings of the care profession. Leah Weigand’s first collection of poems, *Ein wenig mehr Wir* (*A Little More of Us*), was published by Droemer Knaur in 2024 and became a *SPIEGEL* bestseller. Her second book, *Das Gold in den Fugen – Poesie zum Hoffen* (*The Gold in the Cracks – Poetry of Hope*), published on 1 April 2026, also became a *SPIEGEL* bestseller.

In her new writings, Leah Weigand explores the struggle for hope in a world in flux. She turns her gaze to the people, encounters and small moments that give us a sense of stability – and to the gold that sometimes reveals itself precisely in the cracks.

“You can’t just have hope.

And yet, on some days,

I can grasp it and lift it,

perhaps carry it a little further.”
