PROKOFIEV

Sergei Prokofiev was not only among the most important 20th-century composers of piano music, but also one of the most brilliant pianists of his time. Most of his piano pieces were written for his own nimble fingers, resulting in a particularly expressive musical idiom. Four of his nine piano sonatas are included in Israeli pianist Lahav Shani’s solo program, in which he surveys Prokofiev’s creative development over a period of more than 25 years.
