The 1781 Collective presents its largest production to date: a multimedia Gesamtkunstwerk inspired by Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps. The successful LABYRINTH series has already sold over 3,600 tickets and reached a young, curious audience – far removed from conventional concert halls.
Despite increasing cultural funding cuts, the collective is financed entirely through ticket sales. Productions such as LABYRINTH #5: Melancholia and MYSTERIUM were realised without public funding.
The Berlin-based 1781 Collective develops innovative concert formats that place classical music in new contexts. The aim is to give young people in particular a playful introduction to classical music in atmospheric, aesthetically appealing spaces.
LABYRINTH combines music, theatre and dance: over three evenings, 1,600 visitors experience 28 artists in 12 rooms – from Purcell to Steve Reich, accompanied by the ballet sur_real. The open format creates a multifaceted cultural experience that allows classical music to be experienced in a new way.
