a virtual reality world by Silvia Albarella

A dark city full of shouting, motorbikes whizzing past and bags being snatched away. The smell of fish and demonstrations of power by small and large bosses on every corner. The set designer Silvia Albarella grew up in Naples and has translated the atmosphere of her memories into a virtual and walk-in performance for one viewer at a time.

In an atmospherically dense and drawn 3D world, accompanied by soundscapes and texts, you, equipped with a headset, move physically, associatively and playfully for an intensive half hour through an animated experience of unease that captures the agitated urban spaces of Naples and Berlin merges.

The street as a living space and danger zone: Who feels threatened, why and by whom? Where can I find refuge? And: who owns the city? This formally innovative production is inspired by Elena Ferrante's novel ANNOYING LOVE. There, too, the protagonist grapples with her own origins - in dense, oppressive street scenes in which nothing is as it seems.
