celebration of togetherness
ELEKTRO KAGURA and invited artists are hosting KabuKlub from September 11 to 20—a multi-day exhibition and performance program at the Reinickendorf substation (Breitenbachstraße 32, 13509 Berlin).
With works of contemporary visual and digital art, performances, and live music acts, KabuKlub invites visitors to a celebration of conviviality, following in the spirit of Izumo no Okuni, the inventor of Japanese Kabuki dance.
Izumo no Okuni founded the original form of Kabuki dance in Kyoto in 1603 when she rebelled against rigid social structures and the conflicts of the civil war era with dance performances in a dried-up riverbed. Her performances were aimed at the people, opposed war, and fascinated the audience with their direct, raw energy. As an interpretation of Okuni's Kabuki, KabuKlub explores the pompous and the grotesque, spirituality and rebellion, provocation and the transgression of norms – with a desire for peace and a reflection on current social conflicts in Europe.
ELEKTRO KAGURA was founded in Berlin in 2016 by Ichi Go, Yukihiro Ikutani, and AXL OTL. The collective consists of a variety of artists and professionals from different fields who come together as a team on a project-by-project basis.
The Reinickendorf substation, with its spacious industrial halls and extensive basement, offers artists space for their ideas. The collective has been based there since 2023 and aims to create a new art center in Reinickendorf.

Fauna-X is an experimental and multimedia artwork that explores the use of fairy tales as an alchemical process of creative transformation and the role of art as a medium for raising awareness of climate change in our community. It is conceived as a meditation on nature and a critical examination of our connection to the world around us.ensemble menajiri & guests invite the audience on an audiovisual walk through an imaginary forest, where music, storytelling, visual art, and dance are woven together into a total work of art that you can immerse yourself in.
