Film and music have been inseparable since the founding days of the moving picture. Even if a live orchestra rarely plays in the cinema today, film music has become immortal.
With well over 1,000 concerts and television appearances, the Babelsberg Film Orchestra can look back on a long and successful stage history. Performance venues include the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, concerts in major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Calcutta, New Delhi with the music of Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman and, of course, their legendary live film concerts at the Waldbühne and the Gendarmenmarkt.
With the melodies to milestones of film history, such as The Godfather, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Harry Potter or E.T., to name but a few, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg fills the Philharmonie with symphonic sound at the beginning of the year.
