The online exhibition brings together "gaming machines" that have made computer gaming history. Many game titles and entire genres can only be explained if one knows the possibilities and performance limits of the hardware behind them. Conversely, computer games have played a significant role in the further development of computers. This is because they are among the most power-hungry and popular applications and are thus the driving force behind the permanent increase in performance of computer technology in the private sector.

The path from the Odyssey (1972) to the Xbox (2001) is traced in exciting stories that tell of technical innovations and equally of setbacks and aberrations. The invention of digital gaming and the machines behind it was not an uninterrupted success story. The originals can be admired in the museum's "Wall of Hardware".
