150 years of plaster molding

The Gipsformerei is the oldest institution of the National Museums in Berlin. It was founded on a cabinet decree issued by Friedrich Wilhelm III on 8 December 1819. The famous sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch was named the first director of the Royal Plaster Workshop.

Since that time, the Gipsformerei's collection has been extended to nearly 7000 models from all eras and cultures and represents an outstanding treasure for art historians, which should also be accessible to those interested in art.

Participation cards can be booked online and are available at the cash desk of the Gipsformerei on the day of the event. Limited number of participants.
