With the series "Faces of the Capital", the artist Ulli Schmitt wants to portray people who stand for the diversity of the lively city of Berlin - regardless of their origin, age or gender. She dared to experiment with this and in 2020 called on interested Berliners via social media and various websites to send her a portrait photo of themselves.
On this basis, a total of 51 oil paintings were created by spring 2021, without the artist and the portrayed meeting in person. The photos submitted were as diverse as the people: spontaneous selfies, passport photos or glossy pictures from the photo studio. All participants also briefly answered the question "What is happiness for you?"
