The first edition of the Gaswerk Art Days will take place from July 28th to 30th, 2023 with numerous events such as music performances, experimental performances, dance pieces, art exhibitions, installations and video screenings.
The program was put together by STEPHAN KUNZE, LETIZIA TRUSSI with Rooms of Kairos, ROMAIN AZZARO, ANDREAS VÖLK, ELHADJI MAMADOU FAYE (JOEART) and DAN SU.
The aim of the art days is to activate the potential of the Gaswerksiedlung as a creative space for music and art. The Gaswerksiedlung is one of the most interesting, liveliest and most beautifully situated creative quarters in Berlin. The studio complex is located on the south-eastern edge of central Berlin, 3 km from Ostkreuz train station.
The festival takes the opportunity to define the artistic signature of the studio community. This year's program showcases emerging contemporary art talent from Senegal ranging from Aliou “Badou” Diack, an artist in residence at Gasworks Estate in June and July with site-specific installations and artworks, to new music collaborations bringing together some of the most interesting characters in the local scene. The musical spectrum is broad, from afro-jazz and experimental electronic music to eclectic titles and modern krautrock.
