A Fresh Perspective on Women’s Bodies

Since the 1970s, the book has been a standard reference work on female sexuality. Due to increasing online censorship, "Frauenkörper" has recently only been able to be promoted to a limited extent. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, the reissue features new topics such as intimate and cosmetic surgery, self-determined childbirth, and the body and identities. As part of the Weißensee Cultural Summer, we’ll be discussing the need for free access to sexual information, the culture of shame, and explaining what a ‘censorship slider’ is. Women’s laughter, pleasure and joy are, of course, always part of the picture when Laura Méritt is our guest.

After a question-and-answer session with the whole group, there’ll be some ‘friendly chit-chat’. Everyone is welcome – men included.

At the SALON HOCHKEPPEL, the main topics are the menopause, sex and women’s health. A speaker gives a 20-minute introductory talk to start with. Fantastic female authors and their books are also regularly featured. The aim of the salon is education, information and entertainment.

Admission to the salon is free.
