To celebrate their 10th anniversary, piano virtuosos Sebastian Knauer, Martin Tingvall, Joja Wendt, and Axel Zwingenberger are reuniting and embarking on their first joint tour.
With their program "Four Pianists – One Concert," they will be performing live in nine cities in 2026.
Sebastian Knauer, Martin Tingvall, Joja Wendt, and Axel Zwingenberger first performed together in Hamburg in the summer of 2016 – and since then, they have appeared together almost every year in concert at the Hamburg State Opera or the Elbphilharmonie.
For their anniversary, the four pianists are reuniting and presenting their program, full of surprises and musical colors, on tour for the first time.
The diverse musical backgrounds of the four pianists come together in an original program. Each pianist has their own space, and unusual pairings often come together at the piano:
The classical virtuoso plays with the boogie-woogie master, the jazz pianist transitions to the blues with colorful harmonies, and together they create an improvisation. Sometimes the piano is played four-handed—and with two grand pianos on stage, that's eight hands!—while other times the pianists take turns during the piece, making way for the next: A truly unique concert experience!
About the four pianists:
Sebastian Knauer is a sought-after interpreter of classical music and a virtuoso with a commanding stage presence. With his exceptional technical finesse and musicality, he has established himself as one of the few Germans on the international concert circuit. In 2017, he was awarded the Echo Klassik prize.
Martin Tingvall, a native Swede and three-time Echo Jazz Award winner, has composed highly successful hits for the German crime series "Tatort" and for Udo Lindenberg's comeback album. He has made a name for himself with his captivating, melodically energetic jazz style, coaxing previously unheard colors from his instrument.
Joja Wendt began as a lover of early jazz and has continuously expanded his repertoire to include many other musical genres. He has achieved great international success with dazzling technique, virtuoso interpretations, and, not least, as a charismatic presenter of his very own music. He is, among other accolades, a recipient of the Louis Armstrong Prize.
Axel Zwingenberger has been a highly specialized world leader in boogie-woogie for several decades. He represents a keyboard-driven style of music that captivates with tremendous energy and a keen sense for creating atmosphere. As a defining figure and representative of the peak of the European Boogie[1]Woogie Renaissance, he was awarded the German Record Prize for his extraordinary work and in 2007 was inducted into the “Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame” in the USA.
