Eine VR-Inszenierung von RAUM+ZEIT
The new VR production by RAUM+ZEIT is dedicated to Thomas Mann on the occasion of his 150th birthday. Based on his magnum opus "Doctor Faustus", written in exile in California during the Second World War, RAUM+ZEIT tells of the ban on love as a pact with the devil.
When Thomas Mann reads the chapter in which the protagonist's beloved foster son has to die a cruel death to the assembled family in the living room of his villa on San Remo Drive in Los Angeles, there is general horror. In the corner, Frido, Thomas Mann's favorite grandson, is playing, and the dead child looks exactly like him.
RAUM+ZEIT weaves novel and biography, virtual and live scenes into a dreamlike game about reality and fiction, art and life, desire and guilt.
Since the VR production "ANTIGONE :: COMEBACK" (invited to the Swiss Theatertreffen 2019), the RAUM+ZEIT collective has been exploring the scope of the new digital medium in the performing arts. The hybrid theater designs by Alexandra Althoff, Lothar Kittstein and Bernhard Mikeska combine virtual and real spaces.
The collective was awarded the Friedrich Luft Prize 2022 for the last production "BERLAU :: KINGDOM OF THE SPIRITS" created at the Berliner Ensemble.
