Saudade is a bittersweet longing for a moment in the past, a complex emotion combining melancholy with the desire to relive that time. Although it is often associated with old age, it can occur at any stage of life.
It arises from a combination of hormones, neurotransmitters and cognition, evoking a burning desire to return to past experiences, places or people. Triggered by sensory signals, it awakens memories that evoke both sadness and the fear that these moments may never return. Embracing this pain is part of accepting the past and living in the present, as it shapes who we are.
Nothing Happens
A duet
„Nothing Happens“ uses a mix of absurdity and irony to expose the conflicts of modern life and confront global problems that are often hidden behind a mask of normality. Inspired by Schrödinger's Cat and Yuval Noah Harari's Homo Deus, the piece reveals the unresolved paradoxes of society.
The performers alternate between fractured identities, moving through endless surreal scenes that reflect a world eluding truth. Themes of hidden realities, shifting identities, silent wounds, and global warming reveal a culture that is obscuring itself. Their intensified movements capture the discord of our time, while AI voices echo through like ghosts from a dream. In this blurred space between self and reflection, the work asks whether we are ready to break the silence and confront the urgent truths of our time.
