Donatello was one of the most innovative sculptors of the Italian Renaissance. He introduced new themes and subjects into art, used a wide variety of techniques, utilized the latest scientific findings, and individualized his figures in previously unheard-of ways. He became an important role model for many sculptors and also painters. Discover the inventor and innovator Donatello in the context of his time with Dagmar Hirschfelder, Director of the Gemäldegalerie.
