It all starts with a dead bumblebee: Ester wants to bury it in its secret hiding place. She is responsible for shovelling, her best friend for a farewell poem and her little brother for crying.

But one funeral is not enough; now more dead animals are needed, and soon it becomes a real business: a suitcase with utensils has to be organized and more poems have to be written.
The starting point of the production is the realization that all children have experiences with dead animals: from birds and mice to their own rabbit or dog. Director Göksen Güntel, who herself has a 4-year-old daughter, takes up these existential childhood experiences and transforms the book into a sensual and comforting, comic and exhilarating play.
The illustrated book was nominated for the German Youth Literature Award in 2007 and, among other things, was voted "best 7 books for young readers" (Focus/Deutschlandfunk, 2006).
There is a whole series of theater-pedagogical accompanying materials for this production, such as a detailed accompanying folder, the possibility of follow-up work following a visit to the theater, three project modules, some of which are free of charge, the didactically valuable "museum case" as well as further training for teachers and educators.
