A cappella works by Gallus, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Esenvalds and others

A cappella works from 5 centuries: The Catholics Gallus, Mozart and Bruckner find their different musical languages to make the inkling of the divine audible.

The Protestant J.S. In his double choir motet “Komm, Jesu, komm” Bach creates his very own divine cosmos.

This work of art, which is without a doubt one of the highlights of vocal music in general, has a special position among the motets of the Leipzig St. Thomas Cantor: it is the only one to express in the first person the longing of the praying person, full of love and devotion, in the hope of a better one otherworldly world. Today, places of longing can often be found outside of religion: real places or places of peace and tranquility. They lead to these inner places Compositions from the 21st century by E. Esenvalds and R. Johne, which conclude the concert program.
