retrospective

The gallery nüüd.berlin is presenting an exhibition by the photo artist Daniela Finke from November 10, 2023. The central theme of the exhibition is her latest series of works, “A Present from the Past,” in which she explores the fascinating appearance of horseshoe crabs (Limulidae, also known as horseshoe crabs). This species is endangered and is estimated to be over 400 million years old. Their bluish blood has significant medical importance for humanity.

In her work, Daniela Finke examines the invisible relationships in the visible world. She uses bright colors to highlight bodies, architecture, everyday objects and natural phenomena while reducing sharpness. In this way, she brings out fundamental forms and connections and turns the inner side of perception outwards.

Similar to magical representations of the unconscious, which are simultaneously abstract and concrete, her series play with the fleeting patterns of perception and reveal their fragile and rationally difficult to understand form.
