Venus, Eve or femme fatale - these are all figures that artists have used over the centuries to depict the female body. These motifs follow painterly traditions that have evolved over time.
To what extent have modern artists also followed these patterns or broken with them?
The tour explores this question using selected paintings from the Berlinische Galerie's collection presentation and explains various facets of the representation of the female body in art.
In the permanent exhibition "Art in Berlin 1880-1980" with Johanna Haug, Research Associate, Collection of Fine Arts.
