Clarinetist James Scannell presents his new project: a small, elegant swing combo that stylishly creates a musical world full of joy of playing, spontaneity, humor and virtuosity.
Featuring well-known and little-known tunes from the American swing era, as well as European songs, the small group will transport listeners to a glamorous sound world of jazz and cabaret clubs of an earlier era. The musicians play acoustically, without amplification, to better create an authentic and intimate atmosphere.
James Scannell is one of Europe's leading jazz clarinetists. As a soloist he has given concerts in the Berlin Philharmonic and Laeiszhalle Hamburg. He is not only active as a jazz musician but also appears regularly in various projects at the Komische Oper, as well as as a band member of the Berlin ensemble “Drei Groschen Oper”. But jazz and Benny Goodman's music remains his greatest passion.
Jonas Mueller was born in Denmark. He is a versatile musician who is in high demand internationally.
Malte Tönißen, known as the bassist of the Swingin' Hermlins, is famous for his powerful, acoustic gut string tone and one of the most successful and busiest double bass players in the Berlin swing and old-time jazz scene.
