In 1932, Herbert Ortel painted the picture “The Prodigal Son” over the entrance portal of the Old Pankow Parish Church. In 1934 the German Christians called it “Bolshevik trash” and scrapped it off again. 90 years later, the community commemorated the image with a temporary installation at the church.

To commemorate the story of the image is told; the “Goldelsen” play music from this period by Kurt Weill and others.
