Hurry up!

For the second time, the who's who of the German comedy scene will come together in May at the Comedy for Future Festival in Berlin to wrest every conceivable punchline from the impending catastrophe. In all seriousness: the show program at the Comedy for Future Festival naturally offers one thing above all: the best entertainment! Entertainment with attitude, added value, sustainability.

In five evening mixed shows hosted by C4FF patron Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen, Olaf Schubert, Hazel Brugger, Masud Akbarzadeh and Bodo Wartke, Germany's top comedians take aim at the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. And these goals provide plenty of excellent material for successful jokes, because they cover just about everything that is important for a future worth living: climate and species protection, of course, but also aspects such as poverty, hunger, peace, justice and gender equality.

But the Comedy for Future Festival wouldn't be the Comedy for Future Festival if, in addition to a hand-picked show program, it didn't also offer a conference section at the intersection of humor business and sustainability efforts. The first formats for 2023, partly in cooperation with CARBONALE, are currently being developed. Under the label Climate for All, for example, a conference for schoolchildren with hands-on workshops or a climate protection action and theme day for everyone are to be realized. A repeat of the Laugh Parade initiated at the start of the first C4FF is also planned. The carnivalesque mix of spontaneous, flash mob-like staging and political demonstration is to take place again in 2023 at the Brandenburg Gate on Ascension Day, the week before the festival.

The C4FF-Makers want to reach the general public in an unconventional way: With a unique mix of top-class show and well-founded, practical conference program, as well as a tongue-in-cheek demo preceding the event. In this way, they see themselves very much in the tradition of the location chosen for 2023. After all, the idea behind the founding of URANIA - to create a place that provides access to research, education and knowledge for all - was also considered unconventional, not to say revolutionary, at the time.

Slowly, things are getting tight. Not necessarily for planet Earth, which, as we know, would manage very well without 8 billion people. But for us. So if you want 'Future', you can ask yourself where and why things are (still) stuck and what your own contribution to a future worth living could look like. Inspiration of a special kind is served up by the Comedy for Future Festival (C4FF), which will take place at URANIA from May 24 to 28, 2023. And because time is a bit pressing in terms of saving the world, the motto of the upcoming edition is 'Hurry up!'.

The concrete line-up will be announced soon.
