New choral music for church choirs is the goal of the Supernova project: Whoever sings, should also compose - Whoever composes, should also sing. Composers sing in the choir, thereby experiencing the development of their works and the possibilities of choir work. Conversely, choir members are encouraged to write for the ensemble themselves and to make their ideas audible in concert.

A mass composition from the 16th century, by G.P. da Palestrina, provides the framework for the program.

The choir is made up of church musicians, singers and experienced laypersons from the Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO) regional church and from all over the country.

The project is led by Almut Stümke, who hopes to publish a small booklet with the new choral pieces for the church choirs of the EKBO, so that many church choirs and chamber choirs in the country can sing new good choral music.

In selecting the texts for the new choral music, emphasis was placed on understandable Bible translations and just texts.
