Wars, attacks on critical infrastructure, and free societies: In crisis situations like the one we are currently experiencing, intelligence services thrive with their promise of reliable and secure information. What challenges does democracy face, and what role do intelligence services play as information providers for political decision-makers?
The debate focuses on current challenges and the role of intelligence services in a changing security policy environment. With reference to the recently published anthology "Intelligence Services, Politics, and Crises in the Cold War," the discussion will span the confrontations and strategies from the Cold War era to the present day.
In discussion:
- Dr. Konstantin von Notz (Member of the German Bundestag, Chairman of the Parliamentary Control Committee)
- Dr. Gerhard Conrad (former BND employee and expert on international security)
- Prof. Dr. Daniela Münkel (historian, Federal Archives - Stasi Records Archive)
- Moderated by Sven Felix Kellerhof (journalist)
Following the event, there will be an opportunity for discussion at a small reception.
