garden tour with architect Dr. Jessica Hansel, SPSG
When Prince Carl of Prussia had his summer residence built in Glienicke from 1824, he commissioned the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel with the architectural designs. In the footsteps of this master builder, who died early, it was Schinkel's students Ludwig Persius and Ferdinand von Arnim who continued the planning and made Carl's dream of an Italian villa come true.
Its antique-style park architecture and Mediterranean-style farm buildings characterize Glienicke's unique architectural and garden landscape to this day.
