Reading and discussion with Wilhelm Droste
The Romanisches Café on Budapester Straße in Charlottenburg was a meeting place for Hungarian artists in Berlin 100 years ago. In the fifth district of Budapest, the twin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, the literary café Három Holló, founded and run by the German literary historian, translator, and writer Wilhelm Droste, is now thriving. A passionate cultural mediator, he founded the literary magazine "Drei Raben" (Three Ravens) in 2000, which translates Hungarian literature and its themes into German.
Author Bernadette Conrad lived in Budapest this spring as a scholarship holder and observed the current cultural scene. Together with exhibition curator Michael Bienert, she will moderate the evening about the Budapest coffee house.
An event of the exhibition project "Das Romanisches Café" (The Romanisches Café) in cooperation with the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf District Office as part of the twin city partnership with the fifth district of Budapest.
