Martin Helmchen
The Berlin native is one of the leading German pianists and is a regular guest on the most prestigious stages around the world. Now he will also demonstrate his skills at the Berlin Piano Festival. His program promises an exceptionally romantic piano evening.
The framework is formed by two sonatas by Schubert, which mark the transition of his work to the romantic style. The program is complemented by Schumann's eight novellas, a collection of finely crafted character pieces, as well as the impressive Chaconne by the Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina from 1962 - an exciting mixture that will make you sit up and take notice.
Works performed:
- SCHUBERT Piano Sonata D 625
- SCHUMANN Novellas No. 1,2,4 & 8
- GUBAIDULINA Chaconne
- SCHUBERT Piano Sonata D 845
