Kareth Schaffer & Jonas Hauer

How do different animal species experience the world—and how might dance offer an answer to this question? In their first collaboration, choreographer Kareth Schaffer and composer Jonas Hauer are developing a piece aimed equally at sighted, blind, and visually impaired audiences.

“Bat Dances” is a danced monologue from the perspective of a bat, in which its movement patterns are juxtaposed with those of humans.

Through the interplay of dancer Leah Katz, echolocation, and subtle humor, a fable emerges that offers us guidance in times of ecological collapse.
